A really good version, so charming. My favorite one. One of the only two versions that complies with Bizet’s score – no repetition of “Charmant souvenir” at the aria’s conclusion (the other one is Leonid Sobinov – a great Russian tenor – version). The “mezza voce” is simply perfect, it’s not a “falsetto” and it’s better than the legendary “mezza voce” of the great Beniamino Gigli in the recording of this aria he made in 1925.
